Walker Juicer
Role: Design Strategy and Design Direction for Hatch Duo.
The Walker Juicer is a concept born in response to an easy clean and sustainable solution for the problem of traditional larger footprint appliances on the kitchen counter. The Walker introduces a brand new form factor for masticating juicers for individuals who value space and time efficiency, health, and a modern aesthetic taste with sustainability in mind.
An exercise in less. We looked at how to reduce plastic with sustainably harvested wood and to give the customer the best experience when using their juicer.
The Walker Juicer, a Hatch Duo concept project aimed to fulfill two main aspects: first, as an homage to Norman Walker, who in 1936 was the pioneer of discovering juicing was beneficial to our health. As the original innovator of juicing, Norman Walker advocated drinking raw vegetable and fresh fruit juices to regain and maintain one’s health. Based on his theories, he designed and developed the Norwalk Hydraulic Press Juicer, which is still produced and sold today. We wanted to design and put our twist on a masticating juicer.

Secondly, we wanted to design a juicer with a small and compact overall footprint. We introduced plastic reduction and sustainable wood legs that are removable for a smaller storage footprint.
